It works for nearsighted people who have little or no astigmatism. Take a piece of paper with a detailed image on it (a text will do), and find the furthest distance at which the image is absolutely clear. Take the reciprocal of that distance in meters, and you have your amount of myopia. For example, say the furthest distance you can see absolutely clearly is a 0.5 meters, then you have 1 / 0.5 = 2 diopters of myopia. If you know your prescription, do this test anyway and see how close you come. --Alex =========================================================================
